| 25 Landmark Trials in Cardiology Drs. Gabor Gyenes & Craig Butler With Dr. Robert Welsh, Senior Editor 61pp, soft cover, ISBN: 1-896496-59-8 Available from Dr. Gabor Gyenes "Drugs per se are no threat to a patient. A physician’s ignorance either through lack of knowledge of interaction or through lack of adequate observation of the patient and proper interpretation of new events is dangerous." "He is the best physician who knows the worthlessness of most medicines." The editors of this first edition of 25 Landmark Trials in Cardiology are to be commended for their efforts. They bring together practical, up-to-date reviews of the major clinical trials that have had such a positive impact on patient survival and length of life. David Sackett describes evidence-based medicine as "the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients" (BMJ 13 Jan 1996). All that separates us from quackery is the judicious use of scientific evidence. This book provides that evidence. About the authors Dr. Gabor Gyenes received his Medical Doctorate at Semmelweis University, Budapest in 1984. Currently, he is Assistant Professor and Staff Cardiologist at University of Alberta. He is involved in several international multicenter trials. He defended his PhD thesis in 1997 at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He has over 40 peer-reviewed publications and was awarded “Eminent Scientist of the Year 1999” by the International Research Promotion Council.
